But here is a real time vid of that massive 100+ car crash in West Michigan yesterday. 100% speed caused this.

Yikes. It's like no one at all was looking ahead.

I almost front paged it, but we covered the firework truck, so I decided not to. But yeah, I was like day-um.

This is ridiculous. Visibility looks pretty decent, except for right before the wreck. The drivers should be recognizing that something is up, and slowing down.

I'm pretty sure deadspin posted it, might be worth a share from them.

That's terrifying

The amount of resources needed for cleanup and attending to the wounded/deceased must be staggering...

Only one person died so clean up for that wont be too bad. That being said one of the trucks that crashed had 40,000 pounds of fireworks that went alight and another truck was holding hazardous waste. Thats where the real issue probably is.

Visibility in snow tends to be reduced when you're driving in it compared to standing in it. And it isn't that great if you ask me. Look beyond the road to the trees on the far side at the back of the accident. They're basically shapes. Now imagine you're traveling at a speed that would get you from the camera position to those trees in about five seconds.
I'd say people were absolutely driving too fast for conditions, but impaired visibility played a part as well (though seriously, if you can't see that far why you drive that fast?)

Compared to snow we get here, it doesn't look too bad. It certainly is worse up on the road, and that's what they should be picking up on.

Didn't truckers used to have CB radios to prevent this kind of situations?
